An elevator belt carries the buckets through the system. An elevator bucket bolt fastens each bucket to the belt. Although they are separate catalog items, these parts work together after installation; check the bucket holes, belt dimensions and bolt size as a set.

What information is needed to select an elevator belt?

Start by measuring the existing belt width, ply construction and bucket arrangement. Then specify the conveyed material, operating environment and required tensile strength. The Millpart catalog describes MillBelt as an EP fabric-cord elevator belt that can be sized for the application and supplied pre-punched for bucket mounting. The current catalog gives a width range of 100–1400 mm.

If the holes will be pre-punched, confirm the existing bucket's hole count, spacing and row pattern before ordering. Even a belt of the correct width can be difficult to install if its hole pattern is wrong.

What should be checked for Millco steel bucket bolts?

The current e-catalog identifies Millco as a steel elevator bucket bolt and lists different diameter and length options as well as nut choices. Measure the bucket hole, belt thickness and connection arrangement together; bolt diameter alone is not enough to select the correct fastener.

How do you check the bucket, belt and bolt together?

  1. Use the bucket model's technical drawing to obtain hole count and spacing.
  2. Record the width, thickness and ply construction of the current or planned belt.
  3. Check bolt diameter and length against the bucket hole and belt thickness.
  4. Verify hole alignment against a sample or technical drawing before installation.
  5. Follow installation and maintenance instructions appropriate to the operating conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Can every elevator bucket use the same belt and bolts?

No. Bucket dimensions and hole layouts vary by model. The belt and fasteners must match those dimensions.

Can an elevator belt be supplied with holes already made?

According to the Millpart catalog, MillBelt belts can be supplied pre-punched to the bucket mounting dimensions. State the hole layout and bucket model when ordering.

See the Millpart e-catalog for dimensions and product options, or contact Millpart to review the parts for your system together.
